The IMF Boss Couldn't Help It
When the White Man makes excuses for rape. For all the self-righteous drivel over how other cultures do not respect women like the "West" and how Egyptians are such brutes for the savage attack by some thugs against a Western (branded Israeli Jew) correspondent, the White Man himself is no better, and often far worse, than the object of his scorn.
It is a common tale in the West, but especially in America, that women are often responsible for their rape. It is asked, always in a seemingly innocuous manner, whether the woman, say, had too much to drink or whether she was out too late, or whether she should not have gone home with the guy or guys, or whether her clothes and behavior sent a message of promiscuity. In other words, she was unwittingly communicating an invitation for rape.
Any decent man knows that there is never a reason to hold down a woman or even to take advantage of an intoxicated woman who may not resist, and thus it may not be strictly labeled rape, but is still a bastard act of sexually violence. But often in America whenever a young woman, especially a college student, is raped the burden is put on her to prove her scrupulousness instead of the thugs who violated her in the worst possible way. It is a reflection of a sexist primitive mindset that is no different from the mindset that Westerns often condemn in fanatical Muslim men, who also go around blaming the victim and then, in the ostensible interest of women, say that women must be veiled and kept behind doors away from men for their own protection. So men are never to be held accountable for their lack of self-control. The sexual being of men, in the West and in the world of Muslim fanatics, is always excused and it is not men who need to control themselves but the onus is always put on women not arouse men to commit rape. This is an ideology that skirts all responsibility for one (stronger) party and places the burden on the victim of uncouth sexual advances. As if the poor man could not help it. It is profoundly grotesque considering how atrocious a rape is.
That is the posture of the posse of charged IMF chief Strauss-Kahn. Kahn is being held in a New York jail for attacking a hotel maid and, it is not yet clear, perhaps raping her. The maid is a working class single mother, an immigrant from Africa, in her forties who had the misfortune of being assigned Kahn's room.
Instead of condemning the bastard for his crime (credulous considering that now it is being reported he has a history of aggressive sexual advances, at a minimum) or, at least, not saying anything until all the facts are known, Kahn's French defenders have rallied around him and thrown accusations against the woman. Beyond the usual French haughty anti-Americanism (many French commentators are offended that their statesman was in handcuffs, banned in France) and some assertions that this is an elaborate plot by French president Sarkozy to get rid of a presidential opponent, there is also the vile effort to undermine the credibility of the woman being asking dubious questions.

This distasteful, nay shameful, act has naturally being undertaken by the leading French poser and charlatan, a philosopher for idiots amused by European accents, the none other than Bernard Henri-Levi or BHL, who recently wrote: “It would be nice to know — and without delay — how a chambermaid could have walked in alone, contrary to the habitual practice of most of New York’s grand hotels of sending a ‘cleaning brigade’ of two people, into the room of one of the most closely watched figures on the planet.”
You see, she walked in alone. And if a maid walks into the room alone then she is clearly asking to be raped, no? I mean, why else would a hotel maid be in a hotel room if not to send a lascivious message? BHL, Buffoon Hired for Losers, invents an absurd and irrelevant claim, as if it mattered and as if he knows the details for all hotels (in fact, this very hotel assigned one maid to all rooms including suites). What's the contention here? Why does it matter if it was one or two maids, so what if she went in alone? Expect to raise the mantra that the woman kind of was asking for it. This guy, always a pig asswhip, has now graduated from the master's league of douchebags.
Kahn deserves the worst fate, and sexist like BHL should be ostracized. And the pattern of blaming the victim has to stop, in all cultures.
