The Human Devils That We Are
Sunil Kamra a successful merchant went in for petrol for his car but instead of Rs 150/- worth which he wanted, the petrol pump attendant Anees Ahmed keyed in Rs 300/- in the pumping machine by mistake and asked Sunil to pay up. Naturally there was a quarrel anyone would have been angry but Sunil went beyond normal anger limits, he was so infuriated that he hauled up Anees by his collar and abused and assaulted him. That should have been the end of this episode but the Devil in Sunil woke up and made him do the unthinkable, he knocked down the poor man and not content with that he drove his car over him and went on his way obviously fuming and swearing. Anees lay bleeding on the spot but that courageous man noted the number of the car on his palm, as the whole unsavoury act took place so fast that no one present there could realise the enormity of Sunil's action. It was when he fled away they noticed Anees lying on the ground bleeding profusely. He was taken to the hospital where he declared brought dead by the Doctors.
It was the last act of Anees a father of two,the noting down the registration number of the car on his palm which enabled the police to apprehend Sunil from his resident after three days.
In another incidence a four year old girl was thrown out of a moving train by another human devil 20 year old Chotu Sharma, he got into an argument over seat with the poor kid's family and in a fit of anger snatched the girl from the hands of her father and ran towards the door and threw the child out critically injuring her.
It is this spur of the moment action which is totally unpredictable behaviour on the part of sane persons. Both of them did not knew their victims, even their names, they had seen them for the first time on the fateful day. They had no previous grudge. Then why did they loose their control to such an extreme extent. Are we heading for a society where a minor mishap will result in killings on roads and even homes? The short fuse is very much evident in these two cases and is an indication of worse to come.
