The Greatest Inspiration

A soul who always carried the vision of a unified nation, an individual who left the British baffled by his display of non violence and someone who initiated the trend of truthfulness in a nation battling the pangs of slavery.

Yes, I am talking about Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our nation who indeed played the role of a father par excellence. His soft spoken charm and words were such that the people of a whole nation listened as he spoke and were compelled them to follow him. His dream of a free India became their's as well. And his charisma invoked in the masses a desire to accomplish that common goal-the goal of attaining freedom from the ruthless British rule, both for the country and for themselves.

The Mahatma possessed the two inviolable of weapons- Truth and Non violence; more powerful than the deadliest of missiles being designed today. And he employed them with great success to get rid of the lingering British reign.

Undoubtedly, he himself was an exemplary for the people. He boycotted British goods and started spinning his own cloth on the charkha. In this context, we all have to agree that he taught us some very instrumental qualities.

The first was of course that of "Patriotism" and that too, peaceful.

Secondly his charkha symbolized an individual's independence and self sufficiency.

Even after decades of his demise, its almost next to impossible today to spot a more influential personality than the great Mahatma. And mind it. The weapons utilized by Gandhiji, even though they are termed as weapons, are not the weapons of mass destruction like those prevalent nowadays. On the contrary they may be called "weapons of mass unification" according to me.

So as another birthday of Mahatma Gandhi dawns, I would like to adopt a resolution to arm myself with his two weapons and learn to use them to perfection.
