The Great Qatari Queen

POLITICS. .

I have long criticized Persian Gulf royals for be vapid, uneducated, sellouts, money-squanders and selfish. But every now and then there is one royal worthy of praise. Sheikha Mozah, the Queen of Qatar, is one of those rare exceptions.

She has the money to do nothing but travel and buy herself the most luxurious gifts, but, instead, she has dedicated her time to noble causes. And unlike another Arab royal (more on her below), she does not announced a press conference whenever doing anything. She isn't interested in attracting attention to prove anything to impress anyone, she does good because it is the right thing to do not to be invited to some gathering.

The queen is a special envoy for UNESCO, the UN body dealing with cultural preservation and education, for basic and higher education. And, the whole reason I noticed, she is a strong supporter of the Palestinian people and is trying to inform the world about what the Israeli occupation army did (it deliberately killed over 900 Palestinian civilians of whom over 400 were children) in Gaza:

In March, the queen or sheikha of Qatar, Mozah Bint Nasser al Missned, [pictured left] hired a U.S. public relations firm, Fenton Communications. According to the contract filed with the Justice Department, Fenton will support an "international public opinion awareness campaign that advocates for the accountability for those who participated in attacks on schools in Gaza."

While on the East Bank of Occupied Palestine, or Jordan, sits the Jordanian Queen Rayna Abduallah. Rayna is a child of Palestinian refugees from 1948. Though this royal is too busy trying to impress American audiences with her boring and cliche-ridden YouTube videos, and attending Bill Clinton's annual narcissist festival (otherwise known as: Clinton Global Initiative) to remember her people and to put even a fraction of her dress budget into lobbying for Palestinians.

Bless the Qatari Queen.
