It is sad indeed that from its inception in Pakistan army has always called the shots. It has legitimized its hold on the nation by being hostile to India.
After being defeated in three official wars & having seen the division of the country it got a trump card in the shape of nuke bomb with the help of china. Once it became confident that India will no longer declare a war against it, the Pak army started the guerrilla war fare and ISI became accountable to none.
With the help from CIA to destabilize Russia in Afghanistan, it raised an army of mercenaries called Taliban to capture Afghanistan, once Russians departed, to safeguard one of its borders.
Then it went against India hammer & tongs. From flooding the country with fake currency notes to creating trouble in Kashmir & else where operation topaz became the bête noire of India. The hem handed approach of Delhi furthered its cause.
Once Russians departed, US wanted to control Afghanistan which was no longer acceptable to China. So Osama, the creation of US, turned against it. Much against the wishes of Pak army he waged a war against US by attacking world trade center.
Now US had no option but to attack Afghanistan. Its preoccupation with the ill fated Iraq misadventure provided the life line to Jihadis who tightened their hold over Pak army.
Pakistani establishment effectively blackmailed US to fund itself using the slush money against US itself of course in the process also building up a considerable nest egg for those who were in the seat of power at the relevant time.
Once under pressure form US, Pakistan wanted to control Jihadis with reluctance, they turned against it self & established pockets within the country to attack it from within.
Attack on Marriot, assassination of Benzir & numerous attacks on Musharraf are all pointers to it. ISI became an army within army.
This is known to every one. My feeling is that now US can no longer turn a blind eye towards Pakistan sooner or later there will a joint attack with India fronting for US.
Pakistan is most likely to use nuke in the face of a sure defeat, unless the country is divided & nukes captured or there being an effective shield around India, in which scenario India is likely to retaliate or Pakistan will have to forgo its balance nukes for ever.
It may launch multiple attacks against India hoping to cause maximum damage while it can. In the end, the fate of Pakistan is obvious of course. India will be severely affected but for once its size will make it survive.
I have no idea how Pakistan can extricate itself from the mess created by its army. So far India is concerned it has no option but to get ready to survive the nuke devastation. Hope I am not around to see my prophecy coming true but who has controlled the destiny. China is likely to be a dark horse in the drama
