Terrorist Attack International Islamic University in Islamabad
In a most terrifying incident of terrorist violence, two suicide bombers blew themselves one after the other at the new campus of the International Islamic University in Islamabad, on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. The blasts killed six people, including three girls, and left many other injured.

The first blast targeted the cafeteria of the female students at lunch time, killing four people including two female students. The second blast followed a couple of minutes later and it targeted the Sharia Block, which includes departments of Arabic and Islamic studies, law, and literature, killing two persons and injuring several others. The police arrested a few suspicious people near the varsity.
The heart-rending scene is reported to be human legs, cut off by the power explosions, being brought to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Besides mourning the tragedy, public also displayed its anger when the Interior Minister Rehman Malik arrived at the scene of the blast. Angry students, questioning the government’s efficacy in protecting the lives of citizens, threw stones at Mr. Malik, who had to be escorted by the guard out of the place without talking to the media people there.
As of now, all educational institutions in the country have been announced closed due to security concerns while no one has claimed the responsibility for the attacks.
