T20 WORLD CUP BATTLE WITH INJURED SOLDIERS
T20 WORLD CUP BATTLE WITH INJURED SOLDIERS
Team India, for the coming T20 World Cup has been announced. Eight out of the fifteen selected players are reportedly not fit. Although the selectors have obtained fitness certificate from all of them, fitness of half of the team is questionable. No fitness test has been conducted on them; the selectors have relied only on the fitness certificates submitted by the players.

Too much cricket is taking its toll. Players like Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra who were injured and not playing even in IPL are part of the Indian Cricket squad, especially Nehra as we know him, is prone to injuries.
We remember last year’s fiasco; Virender Sehwag had to return home without playing even a single match in the T20 World Cup held in London as he was already injured. Will the history repeat itself?
Besides injuries of the players, selection of the team is also under cloud; a few good players who have consistently performed well have been left out whereas non performers or call them chosen ones have secured their place in the team. The Chief Selector shri sri kant is non committal on the issue of selection .He held a Press Conference to announce the names in the T20 World Cup Team, but did not answer the questions about selection of the team. On the contrary He was quite worked up when asked about Piyush Chawla’s selection.
In our country Cricket is a religion, people invest so much time and sentiments in the game. Do they have no right to know the criteria of team selection? Now the game is highly commercialised, players are bought and sold like commodities. Who is playing the game for the love of game perhaps a very few like Sachin Tendulkar. Overdose of cricket is sapping the energy of our players. Can we expect to bring home the T20 World Cup with our weary team?
