Japan’s Meteorological Agency says a strong earthquake has hit off the eastern coast of Japan.
The agency has issued a tsunami warning for the country’s eastern coast.
The agency says the quake occurred Saturday morning off of the coast of the Fukushima prefecture, about 150 miles northeast of Tokyo. It had a preliminary magnitude of 5.3, which can cause considerable damage.
However, there were no immediate reports of damage from the quake, which shook buildings in central Tokyo.
