Stop this vote-bank politics
Can it be more shameful than this?
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav apologizes: "I accept my mistake and will have no ties ever in the future with those behind the demolition of Babri Masjid. For this mistake, I extend my apologies to the entire country and the Muslims in particular. I would work to safeguard their honour with all sincerity".

This is the height of vote-bank politics in the country. Mr Yadav has apologized for what he termed the 'blunder of associating with those responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid. He was referring to Mr Yadav's brief association with former BJP leader Mr Kalyan Singh who was Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister at the time of the demolition of Babri Masjid.
Mr Yadav's rather knee-jerk action comes in the wake of his realisation that he has lost the confidence and support of the Muslim community in the state due to his association with Mr Kalyan Singh. He is now almost sure that without Muslim support his party may lose further ground in the state which he cannot digest especially at a time when the Assembly elections are round the corner in the state.
Meanwhile, Mr Yadav appears to have won in his vote-bank gimmickry as some Muslim clerics have already welcomed the apology. Leading Islamic seminary Darululoom Deoband today termed as a step in the "right direction" "It is a step in the right direction," Deputy Vice Chancellor of the seminary Maulana Abdul Khalique Madrasi said. Another cleric and member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board Maulana Mohd Islam Kasmi also welcomed Yadav's apology.
It is all vote-bank politics. It is shameful that our politicians change their colours like chameleon for votes. Mr Yadav aligned with Mr Kalyan Singh, a Lodha vote-catcher, only for the purpose of getting the Lodha community votes, as the Lodha community has significant number of votes in several constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. Now, he has ditched Mr Singh to get back the votes of Muslims.
It is all for votes. Both Mr Yadav and Mr Singh came together not based on any ideology, but only selfish motif of getting votes. Now they have parted again for votes.
Beware of these selfless and selfish beings called politicians.
