Soviet Missile found in Bagdad Beach, Mexico

POLITICS. .

Holy hell, maybe G.W. Bush wasn't crazy after all. In fact, it appears as though he was having some type of a vision enhanced futuristic Nostrodamus moment when he claimed, with certainty, Baghdad had weapons of mass destruction. Looks like the only problems with his unique vision and C.I.A. intelligence reports were the dates, amount of weapons, and the general geographical location: a lone Soviet missle was recently found in Playa Bagdad. Let's give the man some credit, how could he have known Playa B-a-g-d-a-d was in Matamoros, Mexico.

Mexican authorities are investigating the discovery of a Soviet-era anti-aircraft missile south of where the Rio Grande empties into the Gulf Of Mexico.

The El Universal newspaper reported that a hotel employee from the beach resort community of Playa Bagdad made the discovery on Thursday night.

The newspaper reported that the discovery prompted the mobilization of the Mexican navy, soldiers and police. Authorities seized the missile and searched the area for other explosives but did not find any.

El Universal reported that the type of missile seized is fired from a shoulder launcher and has a range of a little over two miles. The newspaper reported that the seized weapon is a first-generation Soviet military heat-seeking missile. Mexican authorities are continuing to investigate how the missile go to Playa Bagdad.

What the hell was an old soviet shoulder launching missile doing in front of the hotels of Bagdad beach is anyone's guess. For all anybody knows, it could have fallen out of the pocket of a passing tourist, or was sent C.O.D. for a narco who just happened to be running late, or just maybe it was a little gift, that fauled to launch, from any number of nations really pissed off at us over the pig/H1N1 flu outbreak.

The questions of why and how are odd enough, but even wierder is the supposed written cautionary warning painted on the missile:

"Do not handce contains phosphrusus burns may cauce serios notific police or military".

Is this normal? Do all missiles have cautionary advisories, maybe just in case it doesn't launch and vaporize it's intended enemies, said enemy won't try to pick it up and get serious burns? Are all the warnings in English? Speaking of English, what a shame that warning wasn't ran through some type of spell check before painting it, geez, it almost looks like my English writing.

Anyways, there you have it. A sole, lonely weapon of semi-mass destruction, a missile in Bagdad Beach, Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Case closed.
