Some people never learn…

And Helen Thomas is apparently one of them.

What you see below is just a short summary of an interview she gave to “Playboy” magazine for their April issue. I had thought of posting the entire article, but it came to 17 full pages of ranting, reads like something out of the fraudulent “Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion” and is far too long to post on this or any other forum.

Veteran US reporter lashes out at Israel again in Playboy interview, says Jewish lobbies control power in America – from White House and Congress to Hollywood and financial markets

Veteran US reporter Helen Thomas lashed out at Israel in an interview published Friday, standing by fiery comments which forced her to quit as doyenne of the White House press corps last year.

Speaking to Playboy, she denied she was anti-Semitic but railed against Jewish lobbies she said controlled power in America, from the White House and Congress to Hollywood and financial markets.

The combative 90-year-old also reiterated her view that Jews should stay in Europe and the United States rather than moving to Israel, which she said was stolen from the Palestinians.

“I’m not anti-Jewish; I’m anti-Zionist. I am anti-Israel taking what doesn’t belong to it. If you have a home and you're kicked out of that home, you don’t come and kick someone else out."

Thomas was forced to quit last June after being recorded saying, when asked about Israel: “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine,” adding: “They can go home, Poland, Germany, and America and everywhere else.”

Asked about those comments by Playboy, she said: “Well, that immediately evoked the concentration camps. What I meant was they should stay where they are because they’re not being persecuted – not since World War II.”

“If they were, we sure would hear about it… I want people to understand why the Palestinians are upset. They are incarcerated and living in an open prison,” she added.

‘I'll die with my boots on’

Jewish lobbies had power across the board in the US, she added. “Everybody is in the pocket of the Israeli lobbies, which are funded by wealthy supporters, including those from Hollywood.

“Same thing with the financial markets. There’s total control ... It’s real power when you own the White House, when you own these other places in terms of your political persuasion. Of course they have power,” she added.

Thomas also wanted to set the record straight on her departure from the White House, announced as a retirement by Hearst Corp., where she worked as a newspaper columnist after decades at United Press International (UPI).

“I'm not retired! I was fired. In fact, I’ll die with my boots on,” she said in the interview, which was conducted in Washington where she took Playboy contributing editor David Hochman to her favorite Palestinian restaurant, the magazine said.

Ms. Thomas’ assertions, claims and accusations show how little she really knows about the Middle East, despite her Lebanese/Syrian heritage and her career as a White House correspondent for over 60 years.

Some of her information is way off-base, some is purely fictional and some is right on the money. It’s a pity she doesn’t have the honesty and humility to do her homework before she goes on record.

Oddly enough, I agree with her that the Palestinians have gotten a raw deal—where I disagree with her on that is in her blaming only Israel and not the Arab League for their part as well. Her ignorance, willful or not, of the 900,000 Jewish refugees expelled from Arab states is only one example of the homework she failed to do. The simple fact that she doesn’t even know that more than half of Israel’s population today hails from the Middle East is an indication of her ignorance.

Her original comment that “the Jews” could have gone back to Germany, Poland, Russia, etc. was not only ill-advised, but also showed her ignorance. “The Jews”, those who survived, found their homes and other properties “appropriated” by the local populaces. (A relative of mine from Romania was told by a childhood friend “not to make waves” about the family property if she valued her life [this was in the 1990s, after the fall of the Soviet Union].) Those “Christians” who took over Jewish properties had no intention of relinquishing them, so where were “the Jews” supposed to go?

In short, she has become a pathetic old woman, mouthing propaganda pieces and now is the subject of an interview with “Playboy”, as part of its eternal campaign to proves it’s more than just a “soft porn” magazine. At least Ms. Thomas isn’t Miss April in the centerfold—that would be more than I could stomach without throwing up.
