Somali divorced woman stoned to death for adultery, her single lover gets 100 lashes

Al Shabaab's version of Shariah in Somalia rears it's ugly head once again, demonstrating how barbaric some of those practices are, and how women are treated very differently in Islam.

Apparently, Al Shabaab has a perverted definition of what adultery actually is. The dictionary definition is an 'extramarital affair'. Al Shabaab's:

anyone who has ever been married - even a divorcee - who has an affair is liable to be found guilty of adultery, punishable by stoning to death. An unmarried person who has sex before marriage is liable to be given 100 lashes.

And that's exactly what Al Shabaab did to a young 20 year-old divorced woman who had a relationship with an unmarried 29 year-old man.

..the woman was taken to the public grounds where she was buried up to her waist.

Then she was stoned to death in front of 200 onlookers. The boyfriend? He received only 100 lashes. So, the woman deserved death, while the man corporal punishment? Neither deserved what they got, but we're dealing with Shariah Law where there's no equality for women.

And stoning seems to be commonplace in Somalia. Apparently there have been at least 4 other stonings this year alone, including:

A man executed for adultery, while his girlfriend will be stoned as soon as she gives birth.

Then there was that 13 year-old rape victim who was terrorized again, by being stoned to death by 50 men in a stadium in front of 1,000 people. Some who tried to save her were fired upon by militia, and a young boy was killed. Not one of the accused rapists was arrested.

And the world stands by and does nothing about the horrors the Somali people are being subjected to.
