Solange Gemayel, the widow of the late Lebanese Nazi and puppet of Arial Sharon Bashir Gemayel, has fallen on hard time. In the 1980s, she saw herself as the first lady of Lebanon and thought she would be at the helm of a 'great' country.
Married to leader of the far-right, sectarian Phalange-leader Bashir her dream was actually quasi-acquired for a time. The Phalange had an alliance with the Israelis, naturally. Solange used to cook for Sharon when he was a guest of Bashir during the 1975-1990 Lebanese Civil War. Over tales about how they are Phoenician and not Arab (Solange is actually Armenian), Solange told Sharon that he would be the first guest of honor once Bashir become president. The Israeli installed Bashir as 'president' - 'president' only over East Beirut and parts of Mt. Lebanon since the nation was still at war then and there was no national unity to speak of. During Bashir's tenure, there was a 'president' of West Beirut as well. Solange must have been so proud then. Bashir was assassinated shortly after his Israeli placement and his band of thugs took revenge on innocent Palestinian refugees in the camps of Sabre and Chatile.
Solange, like other delusional Lebanese nationalists, never got to be the image she so eagerly sought. He stands in the Phalange party now (she is one of their MPs) due to nothing more than the Phalange's sick idolization of her husband and she gets to coast on his legacy.
But her glory days are over. And apparently she has fallen on such hard time that she is now resorting to stealing candy. Look at how she grabs and puts candy in her bag and the bag of her friend as if she has never seen food before:
I mean, I knew times are hard for her, but not that hard. Do she not get enough to eat at home or not enough to offer guests? And she apparently can no longer afford even miniture Lebanese flags. That bad, huh? So sad, but NOT really.
Do not feel sorry for an awful person like Solange. She deserves no sympathy and should be tried for treason over her cooking for Sharon. I am glad this was caught on camera and broadcast in Lebanese T.V. and that she has been humiliated.
