Should Indians Initiate a Freedom Struggle 2 against the so called democratic leaders?
Democracy is supposed to be by the people and for the people. But is it any truth right now? It appears to be by the autocrats and against the interests of people.
There were times when kings in pre-independence days used to divide and rule the country to assert their presence. Then came the colonial rule when the British used the country mainly for their commercial ventures. They were selfish in banishing the natives to a background to gain mileage. We shouted on roof tops and attained freedom from the British.
But are we really free now? The politicians were initially the sacrificing and service minded individuals who tried to establish a democratic set up for the people. But over times, the democracy has lost its definition to the selfish ambitions of the bureaucrats and the greedy. People are still slaves to the whims of politicians, the existing goonda elements threatening the real estate sector, education, entertainment and other sectors.
If at all the country has achieved economic welfare status, it is because of the investments of the private sector in engineering industry alone and inspite of the presence of politicians. Poor and the not so affluent class have increased. But what is the government doing? It looks like we can do well without a government. Any takers?
Common man's role in our democracy ends with voting. Long waits, corruption, cheating, rising cost, lack of medical facilities and total lack of ethics in the political system gape at him wherever he goes. Then what should he do now?
It looks like the present set of elected representatives have decided never to let democracy come any where near their so called ruling. Hence it is time that people of India start another round of struggle to release the country from the clutches of politicians and the political system, fight for necessary constitutional amendments to change the set up to give room for young and those visionary individuals without any political ambitions to get to the helm.
It is an emergency now that election process is changed so that the criminals and corrupt are not allowed to combat. They are not fit to rule us. It is not enough just blaming that educated people are not voting as those contesting elections do not enjoy the approval of the electorate. They are merely randomly selected by party head who is himself a corrupt most of the times and has no interest of the country at heart. It is all about capturing power and retaining the set for financial gains. I am at a loss to choose whom to vote among the available as most of them are not even educated, do not know what is happening in the country or in their own area, hardly able to reach up to people or even behave humanely for that matter. How do the educated elite vote? Inclusion of 40A is an eyewash and waste of public money.
Electoral system is total farce and outdated. It is absolute stink and most of the politicians are absolute outlaws. What is the alternative? We have to live here and bring up families.
I feel a thorough overhaul of the democratic system and setting up a new set of regulations are the immediate necessities on hand. Left to themselves, the politicinas will only resort to handing over the reins to their kith and kin thus making it a familial heredity.
A freedom struggle of a peaceful but of forceful nature by all the educated, not educated, rich, poor, old and young is the need of the hour. Otherwise this oldest democracy will be the laughing stock and a poor model on the globe and create harm to its own citizens. Let us march in unison and look for leaders to guide us in this march. It is the people's forum and not any divisive force!
