Sexist Britain
Take a look at this survey on the attitudes of British men toward women:
"One in seven people believe it is acceptable in some circumstances for a man to hit his wife or girlfriend if she is dressed in “sexy or revealing clothes in public”, according to the findings of a survey released today.
A similar number believed that it was all right for a man to slap his wife or girlfriend if she is “nagging or constantly moaning at him”."
I just have one thing to say about this? Can you imagine what editorial comment would be made in the Western press if this study was about men in any Muslim country? Pundits would have a field day attacking Muslim "repression of women" and Islam's "sexism" and on and on and on.

I can guarantee you that physical abuse of women in some Western countries - particularly America - exceeds that of most Muslims countries. 25% - 33% of American women suffer abuse from either a husband or boyfriend once in their lives. And yet when we read such statistic in the West we never resort to racist attacks against "Western culture" or "Christianity" even when in the Bible a women is referred to as property and Islam is far more progressive on women's rights than any other Abrahamic faith.
Only when Muslims are in question, must racist commentators engage in bigoted attacks and cruel generalizations.
I can guarantee you that British men are more accepting of violence than, say, Tunisian men.
Women's rights is a fundamentally important issue. And we should all stand against abuse and sexism where every it exists. But engaging in us vs. them paradigm and bigoted generalizations and attacks against faiths and cultures only distracts from the cause and undermines those women fighting for their rights.
