Senate Postpones Global Warming Hearing Due to Snow Storm
For years, global warming promoters have seized on hot summers in, say, Washington to claim that this weather change over a period of years was reflective of a broader trend which 'proved' their theory that the planet is heating up.

This was always absurd. Weathers changes all the time and a few years is reflective of nothing. There have been cold/hot decades all the time. But as we recently learned in the form of disclosed e-mailed, many supporters of global warming have turned their theory into a dogmatic religion where they seize on anything and say anything - no matter how dubious - in order to win converts.
New York is hotter this year than last, and Al Gore thinks that merits a PowerPoint slide. None other than Robert F. Kennedy - an environmentalist crusader - stated that global warming had become so severe that the nation's capital would no longer see heavy snow:
In Virginia, the weather also has changed dramatically. Recently arrived residents in the northern suburbs, accustomed to today's anemic winters, might find it astonishing to learn that there were once ski runs on Ballantrae Hill in McLean, with a rope tow and local ski club. Snow is so scarce today that most Virginia children probably don't own a sled. But neighbors came to our home at Hickory Hill nearly every winter weekend to ride saucers and Flexible Flyers. In those days, I recall my uncle, President Kennedy, standing erect as he rode a toboggan in his top coat, never faltering until he slid into the boxwood at the bottom of the hill. Once, my father, Atty. Gen. Robert Kennedy, brought a delegation of visiting Eskimos home from the Justice Department for lunch at our house. They spent the afternoon building a great igloo in the deep snow in our backyard. My brothers and sisters played in the structure for several weeks before it began to melt. On weekend afternoons, we commonly joined hundreds of Georgetown residents for ice skating on Washington's C&O Canal, which these days rarely freezes enough to safely skate.
Meanwhile, Exxon Mobil and its carbon cronies continue to pour money into think tanks whose purpose is to deceive the American public into believing that global warming is a fantasy.
Well, nuts to that theory now. It has been snowing nearly non-stop in Washington for more than a week now and in December the city had another massive snow storm. Washington has recorded an all-time record in snow and has surpassed usually very snowy cities - like Cincinnati - in snow this year: 55.6inches. It was the late 1980s when the previous record was set. And next winter it may be unusually warm and then Kennedy will state that it is warm because of global warming. Non sense! The weather is unpredictable and it is arrogant to believe that you've figured out weather patterns beyond doubt. Maybe global warming exists, but the arrogance of these people and their demand that their revolutionary plans be imposed based on often dubious evidence is offending.
(And, for the record, a 1/3 of the country is under snow storms. New York under a blizzard.)
And it has snowed so much snow in Washington this week that the federal government is closed for the third day running and, ironically, a Senate hearing on global warming has been cancelled:
The blizzard conditions here in the nation's capital have shut down most area federal government activity. A scheduled Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works hearing discussing the impacts of global warming had to be postponed because of the snow and frigid temperatures.Meantime, Massachusetts Democratic Senator John Kerry tells The Hill newspaper, those who think climate change legislation is dead for the year because of the harsh winter weather are "dead wrong" and guilty of what he calls "inside the Beltway thinking."
No more snow in Washington? Maybe snow has made it no more arrogant BS in Washington.
