Scientists discover miracle cure for ageing: Getting closer to immortality

LIFESTYLE. .

Scientists at Cambridge-based biotechnology firm Intercytex have discovered a new miraculous technique to fight 'ageing,' that is more enduring than Botox and cheaper than a facelift.

The novel technique is based on 're-generation' in which cells grown from another human are injected into the skin thereby encouraging it to regenerate. Scientists have succeeded to find a way to grow these cells dubbed fibroblasts in the lab only. These fibroblasts, which generate a protein called collagen, adds to the strength and elasticity of the skin but as we age, the count of these cells keeps on declining. So, when these cells will be injected into the wrinkles, it will lead to the regeneration of the collagen, encouraging the skin to regenerate again.

Process of injecting Fibroblasts:

Patients distressed from ageing problem would undergo a series of superficial injections containing fibroblasts over a 20 to 30 minute period under local anaesthetic. Well, every injection contains millions of cells and is injected up to around 1mm under the skin. For every per square centimeter of wrinkle, patient will need to have one injection. If a patient wants to clear up a forehead furrow, he may possibly need 12 injections of fibroblasts. The skin starts invigorating over three to six months after the process is repeated six weeks later after the first sitting.

How the new technique scores over other anti-ageing products?

Global cosmetic shelves are flooded with anti-ageing products. Until now, there had been countless ways to fight the natural sagging of the skin including Botox, collagen fillers, laser treatment, and fat transplants.

•If you go for a facelift treatment, it will set you back somewhat about £10,000 while a course of treatment with fibroblasts will cost you a mere £5,000 thereby making it more cost-effective than the former.

•A single course of treatment is claimed to last up to three years while in case of Botox, you will have to undergo treatment after every four months and that will cost you between £200 and £300 per sitting.

It's quite obvious that the new technique is certainly going to allure those patients who don't wish to be oddly questioned by others for a hasty change in their looks.

Are we getting closer to immortality?

This is not for the very first time that we are coming across the idea of 're-generation.' A recent study done by scientists put forth a ray of hope for the war amputees since they are anticipating a new technology that could help full limb regeneration. If the scientists have succeeded in regenerating the human skin, I don't think the day is too far when we will be witnessing regeneration of each and every human organ.

Don't you think it's like getting closer to immortality?
