Saudi Threat To Mideast

POLITICS. .

The Vile and Illiterate Saudi King.

The corrupt oil monarchy of Saudi Arabia is truly a house built on sand. The nation produces nearly next to nothing after its oil production. And the widely detested royal family - which is so loathed in the region that Saudi oil money has bought most of the Mideast media to stifle criticism of the regime - remains in power only due to American support and arm sales.

If this regime were merely vile in its oppression and hedonism that would at least be somewhat tolerable for the outside world. The domestic oppression is for the Saudis to deal with. But that isn't it. The kingdom is based on a marriage between the House of Saud (oil) and the House of Ash-Sheikh (Wahhabi). The Saudi royals and Saudi oil have formed an alliance with an atrociously extreme sect within Islam. As Lebanese-American academic As'ad AbuKhalil once stated, If one wants to understand the horrors of the Taliban one has to trace that menace to Saudi Arabia. The misogynistic fanaticism is a core belief of Wahhabi zealots and the destruction of two Buddhist statues, which prior to 2001 existed under Islamic rule for centuries, is also due to Wahhabi ideology. An ideology so extreme that they not only destroy the archeology sites of other faiths but when they conquered Mecca they also destroyed the tombs of the Prophet's Companions because they said it would lead to some veneration inconsistent with Islamic monotheism that only Wahhabi thinks it can uphold.

Wahhabi ideology would not be known today were it not for the oil money of the Saudis. Regrettably such a vile ideology had to be born (in the 1700s) over the world's largest known oil fields. And Saudi oil money has been used to promote this fanatical and intolerant ideology and poison parts of the Muslim world with this fanatic sect. And, in addition, to also promote terrorism of the most fanatical types. Terrorism is also rooted in political matters not religion, not even Wahhabi. But Saudi Arabia has added fuel to an existent fanatical terrorist (again, to belabor, with political roots and only a political solution) movement in the form of Bin Ladin. It should be noted, that when left-wing and secular Palestinian groups were fighting Israel in the 1970s they received no support from much of the royal family and only token support (to save face with the fiercely pro-Palestinian Arab public) for the PLO from the Saudi government and Saudi Arabia was aligned against the Palestinians in the Lebanese Civil War by secretly funding the far-right Phalange militia. But the terrorism of Bin Ladin naturally appeals to Wahhabi zealots. So this recent Wikileaks notice should not surprise:

Saudi Arabia is the world's largest source of funds for Islamist militant groups such as the Afghan Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba – but the Saudi government is reluctant to stem the flow of money, according to Hillary Clinton.

"More needs to be done since Saudi Arabia remains a critical financial support base for al-Qaida, the Taliban, LeT and other terrorist groups," says a secret December 2009 paper signed by the US secretary of state. Her memo urged US diplomats to redouble their efforts to stop Gulf money reaching extremists in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Can you imagine if some members of the elite in Syria were busying funding America's enemies who have committed horrific terrorists attacks against the United States? Such information would have been purposely leaked by the U.S. government (forget about Wikileaks!) to demean Syria and the U.S. media would have eagerly complimented the effort, and it would be grounds for war against Damascus which would be voiced from through and fro. But the U.S. media has been largely absent about this and the U.S. government has not publicly said anything. Saudi Arabia is getting the mute treatment from the U.S. despite the fact that members of the royal family are funding terrorists. To understand this double standard see this post I wrote today.

Lastly, Saudi oil money has created an arrogant and confident Saudi government which is greatly ambitious to subjugate other Mideast regimes to its domain (under American auspicious, of course). This oil money is used to buy politicians and political parties and to tilt politics to Saudi favor:

Iraqi government officials see Saudi Arabia, not Iran, as the biggest threat to the integrity and cohesion of their fledgling democratic state, leaked US state department cables reveal.

The arrogance of this corrupt nation with its vile state doctrine and ideology and oppression thinking it can subvert the democratic and noble efforts of other nations and undermine liberalism in the region in the name of the royal family's interests. I cannot put into words my detest for this regimes which needs to be overthrown (by its own people, not U.S. forces and arms) which has caused and continues to cause so much damage in the world through Wahhabi promotion and undermining Iraqi democracy, and all to maintain its own unworthy royal family in power, and thinking it can get away with pure immunity for all its vile crimes. The vileness of the Saudi state knowns no bounds or bottom, or any measure of decency. It is just crude vileness.

Down with House of Saud!!!
