Salman pained over 26/11 controversy
Salman Khan has hinted about quitting twitter, his only direct connect with his fans, as critics and supporters line up to show their angst and support to him…
Just at the time when Salman Khan’s latest release Dabangg is creating historical records (Dabangg’s opening collection is much higher than that of 3 idiots) at the box office, which is only adding up to the frenzy, his sheer star power can create, a ruckus is being created over his ill-informed remarks on the 26/11 attacks in an interview given to a Pakistani channel. It’s somewhat ironical that success and controversy comes in a package these days, so all he can do is, grin and bear it. But, Salman isn’t pleased. The actor is indeed pained by the entire episode and is keeping himself off the Dabangg success celebrations. He has even indicated quitting the social networking site he uses to connect with his fans. “Looks like I might have to get off twitter. Don't want to but what to do? I think I messed up, so sorry guys and sorry bolne mein koi sharam nahi,” Salman tweeted last night.

Apparently, a certain section of the media and the politicians are badmouthing the actor for stating that the Mumbai attack got more hype since the elite were targeted in it. Critic Shobha De appealed to the citizens to boycott his film Dabangg. “Salman Khan's shocking statement about 26\11 smacks of arrogance, ignorance and plain stupidity. A lame apology won't do, Sallubhai. Boycott Dabangg!” Apart from De, Shivsena’s spokesperson Sanjay Raut has also expressed his displeasure at Sallu’s remarks. He said, “26/11 was a Pakistani attack on the nation. It is absurd on the part of Khan to state that it was an attack on the elite.” BJP leader, Vinod Tawde fumes, “to give frivolous comments to a Pakistani channel is highly deplorable.”
However, not all are against the Dabangg Khan, who is not only famous for wearing his heart on his sleeves but also for speaking his heart out. It is indeed a surprise that MNS supremo Raj Thakre is defending Salman this time. “I think his statement was twisted by the media. In fact, in the same interview, Salman has questioned Pakistan about the 26/11 terror attacks but media is silent on that,” Raj told the reporters. Apart from Raj, other celebrities too came in support of the actor. Mahesh Bhatt and Anupam Kher expressed their solidarity with Salman, who maintains he has been misquoted and misinterpreted. Kher said, ‘I don’t think, he meant what is being implied of.” Music Director Vishal showed his support my messaging this to Salman, “What you said is true. Our politicians and TV media don't care about regular people, only hyped 26/11 because it came to our doors.”Ashish Chowdhary, Sophie Choudhary and Amrita Arora also stood up in support of the star. Sonam Kapoor tweeted to Salman, “don't worry people like pulling you down because they are jealous. Totally with you. Lots of love.”
Though, Salman has officially apologised for his remarks, he is obviously grieved by the controversy. He has chosen to be a recluse and take his angst out in his paintings rather. His tweet stating, “Hurt very hurt, straight thru my heart. My mum, dad, brothers and sisters, the entire family had to go through torture on Eid and Ganesh utsav,” expresses his pain and remorse. So, should we give the devil its due and believe, he never meant to be wrong in the first place?
