Chris Rolfe scored two goals and Cuahtemoc Blanco added a goal and two assists to lead the Chicago Fire to a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday night.

In the 13th minute, the Fire’s John Thorrington forwarded the ball to Rolfe, who broke through defenders, spun around and blasted the ball into the lower left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The Galaxy tied it in the 35th minute. Landon Donovan passed to Chris Klein on the right side and Klein centered it to Eddie Lewis in the box. Then Lewis volleyed a short ball past Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch into the net.

Just before the half, Blanco ran into the box and collided with Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Wicks. Blanco was motionless on the ground for a few minutes, then sat up and left the field with assistance. He soon returned to the game.

In the 57th minute, Blanco stepped over a defender and ran past a sliding Wicks. His shot rocketed into the net for a 2-1 lead.

Two minutes later, Blanco found an open Gonzalo Segares on the left side of the field. Segares crossed the ball to Rolfe, who blasted it toward goal. Wicks got a hand on it, but the ball bounced into the net for a 3-1 lead.

Chicago improved to 12-9-5 and remains in third place in the East. The Galaxy fell to 7-11-8 (29 points).
