Robert Kubica’s crash- an ominous precursor to F1 2011 season
Every Formula 1 season has always offered something for the fans of motor sports to look forward to and 2011 is no different. More number of races, the youngest ever defending champion in Vettel and for me the first ever chance to watch an F1 race LIVE- the much anticipated Indian GP.
Before the season actually starts it’s always the new and improved cars launched by the manufacturers which excite the drivers and keep their rivals guessing what others have been up to. And as the test drivers test these cars the excitement starts gaining momentum- just like an F1 car leaving the pit stop.
Kubica crashes, causes huge scare
This year looked no different except for the very tense last few days. The unfortunate Polish sensation Robert Kubica met with an accident which caused a huge scare. As his car crashed the initial reports suggested a very serious damage to his right hand which looked like it was going to threaten his career.
Though it was really reassuring to know that he had survived the crash, the news nonetheless was very disappointing. Looked like an ominous precursor to the F1 2011 season. But thankfully Kubica’s injury has not turned out to be as bad as it initially sounded.
Kubica on his part is a true fighter and a great human being on and of the race course- no wonder his first concern after gaining consciousness was to inquire about his fellow driver in the crash- who by the way miraculously was able to walk out of the car debris after the crash though lots of iron had to be cut to get Kubica out.
Plenty to look forward to in 2011
Anyhow, with Kubica improving with each passing day the focus can once again be brought back to the first race of the 2011 season. And going by some new rules, improved car designs, countless changes in team drivers and growing hunger among the drivers I am certain this year could very well overtake the preceding one in terms of edge of the seat races and constantly changing point tables.
