Republicans and other neo-con zealots constantly attack Obama in the most wanton manner as an "appeaser" of Iran because he hasn't [yet?] commenced bombing of the Mullahs to stop a possible nuclear weapon acquisition...years away.
Obama is the wimp: Too spineless for Iran. He is endangering the world and our ally [sic] Israel because he is refusing to deal with nuclear proliferation in the Middle East {excluding Israel).
Iran is a hypothetical threat, but there is an actual nuclear proliferation threat. Republicans and Israel charge that Iran may pass nukes to terrorists, again hypothetical and even with a nuclear-armed Iran the idea that Iran would risk national suicide by giving arms to terrorist is absurd. Terrorists are more likely to get a nuke through the black market where there is a poor stewardship and monitoring of terrorists. They are most likely to sneak a nuke where they can attempt to buy one in an arena where there are thousands of nukes and a poor inspection team.
That area is the former Soviet Union where thousands of old Soviet nukes lie in often poorly secured bases. The Obama administration last year signed a START agreement with Russia whereby the Russians would greatly cut down on nukes and thus aid the cause of stopping nuclear proliferation.
Great deal, right? But the Republicans, fresh with confidence after the election, now seek to block the deal solely on petty political spite against Obaam to deny him a major international accomplishment. It needs 67 Senators for treaty ratification, but Republicans now look like to deny the president the vote.
And all for cheap and inconsequential political gains. As if Americans are following this story. But Republicans seem to be motivated by such deranged hatred of Obama that they would endanger America and do precisely what the accuse Obama of doing against Iran, expect they're actually doing it, all in the cause of seeking to undermine Obama's political fortune.
