Rev Terry Jones, did anyone knew about him beyond his own congregation in Gainesville, Florida now the whole world is speaking about him, discussing the pros and cons of the call given by him to burn Holy Quran on the anniversary of 9/11.
Why did he give such an incendiary call he only knows, but what can be achieved by burning a sacred book I fail to understand.As far as everyone knows no religion even remotely teaches the principle of revenge.Every sacred text is full of virtues of forgiveness.
By only one statement he has come into limelight,everyone from world leaders to religious leaders are condemning his line of action. Not only that now there are talks of retaliation if such an action took place. Who will suffer in the end , none other than the common man. The people who are only concerned of living a peaceful and prosperous life and who are working all day long for that goal only will suffer.
Rev Jones will no doubt have his fifteen seconds of fame, but the results will be far-reaching, God- forbid if any violence erupts, the innocent people who will be caught in this cross fire will be the ultimate victims.
One can only hope that good sense will prevail.
