Redux: Jordan's Agent in Afghanistan: "Humanitarian" & Government Seeks Cover-Up
The King of Jordan is in the center - Look at this idiot! The buffoon has never served a day in the military, not even a ceremonial position; but he often insists on wearing and being photographed not only in a soldier's uniform but in the Jordanian special forces attire. As if anyone is impressed. A King - and a 'special forces' King at that - he makes it his utmost duty - after serving U.S. and Israeli interests, of course - to inspect all Jordanian sweets. It is a national responsibility, a high honor and a thankless job, but this King is up to it Damn It!

The recent news of seven C.I.A. agents and one Jordanian agent being killed by an al-Qai’dah operative was the work of a Jordanian double-agent.
The Jordanian intelligence apparatus, the General Intelligence Department (which was created by the C.I.A.), had sent the eventual suicide bomber to Afghanistan for the purposes of infiltrating al-Qai-dah’s network in the country and then reporting to the United States and Jordan.
Besides killing seven Americans, he also killed one Jordanian agent:
The slain officer, identified in Jordanian press accounts as Sharif Ali bin Zeid, was on one of the CIA’s most sensitive listening posts in eastern Afghanistan, Forward Operating Base Chapman, when a suicide attacker exploded a bomb in the middle of a group of CIA officers and contractors.
This has raised a serious question: What is Jordan doing sending agent and moles into Afghanistan?
The United States government claims strategic interest in Afghanistan, but what interest does Jordan have to secure and what gains does the nation derive from involving itself in the Afghan war? Why send a Jordanian agent in harm’s way? Jordan has no interests in Afghanistan, and the only reason it is making itself useful to the United States is exclusively for purposes of cementing and increasing U.S. patronage for the corrupt Hashemite regime. By getting involved with U.S. wars, the client Hashemite regime (which would not survive without U.S. support) strengthens itself by securing more arms, aid and U.S. support (not to mention the U.S. turning a blind eye to human rights abuses). This is not a new game for client Arab dictators: the Saudis used to fund U.S. wars in Latin America for no other reason than to please the U.S. and in the hoping of achieving the “special relationship” they envy Israel for having.
The irony is that in the end the image of an Arab regime being a puppet of the U.S. will only undermine its longevity. And the Jordanian government knows that. In an effort to improve its standing with its critical and skeptical population, the Jordanian government (which is the worst in its collaboration with Israel/U.S. and used to sell out Palestinians for literally handfuls of British pounds and the Jordanian King flew to Israel in 1973 to warn them of the impending attack by Egypt and Syria) has issued a non-sense statement that its agent at the behest of the United States has in Afghanistan for no more than “humanitarian” purposes.
The remarks were made by the foreign minister Nasir Judah. Needless to say, there was no humanitarianism here just plain-old Hashemite subservience to Western powers, which is something they excel at. This is a regime that is beyond despicable in its puppet-status and has no self-respect and dignity.
Arab leaders do not really believe their people to believe this tripe, or do they? If so, they are worse then I thought.
Redux:
Jordan's General Intelligence Department, or GID, warned members of the CIA bomber's family not to speak to the press. Several analysts were also called and told not to make "inflammatory" statements. At least one local journalist working with the foreign media was hauled in for questioning.Rohile Gharaibeh, a member of the opposition Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, says the government realizes how negatively the public views its involvement with the CIA. Gharaibeh says to express opposition to the government's decisions in Jordan, though, is difficult. Opposition members, he says, are subject to harassment.
But you will not read nor hear/see about this in the U.S. press - which is busy mourning the Jordanian operative killed as a fellow hero alongside Americans in the so-called or formerly titled "War on Terror". The Jordanian government's repression of public information and their harassment of a grieving family (and journalists) will go unnoticed because here in the U.S. the U.S. government and media (which does not deviate from the government's foreign policy views) only care to highlight human rights abuses if the nation is confrontation toward stated American foreign policy.
If Jordan were to start criticizing the U.S. akin to, say, Syria then the U.S. press will all of a sudden feign concern. But Jordan is repressing while serving American interests and in the name and cause of those interests, so the U.S. press then calls this not tyranny but "stability" and "moderation". Dictators who oppress their own people while supporting U.S. wars are widely sanctioned amongst the American establishment.
These are the standards, or lack thereof, and this is why the aftermath of this story receives no attention in Washington. They are pleased with their puppets.
