Red Cross: Mexico collects Historical amount of Relief Aid for Haiti
With slightly less than 36 hours before collection stations close, the Mexican Red Cross has announced the collection of more than two thousand 835 tons of humanitarian aid for the citizens of Haiti.

In an interview the national president of that institution, Daniel Goñi Díaz, said the amount of food, medicine, and water collected is "historic" and shows the true solidarity of Mexicans. More than two thousand 550 tons of aid have already been shipped to Haiti with the help of federal authorities.
The amount of aid sent is far superior to that sent by other Latin American nations, but "the important thing is that all countries contribute, the mountain is the sum of all efforts."-Daniel Goñi, President of Red Cross, Mexico
Red Cross will continue to receive donations until Friday and has guaranteed that all aid received will be shipped by the Mexican Navy as "not a single kilo of aid given in Mexico will stay in Mexico, everything will be delivered to the people of Haiti."
In total over 11 thousand 200 volunteers have participated with the Red Cross in the collection, packing, grading and transport of food that comes into their centers.
