Reality Shows: Do we need an adult hour?
If your project is not able to grab the attention of all, get some controversy in it! At least people would be tempted to know the reason behind. If you don’t agree then take the case of “Reality Shows” that are grabbing the eye balls of people from all corners.

Accept it or deny it, reality shows have injected curiosity in us to an extent that all indispensable tasks are overlooked when these TV shows are being aired. To name few- Big Boss, Rakhi Ka Insaaf, Roadies, Splitsvila or Emotional Atyachar successfully tempt the masses.
The most-hyped reality shows-Big Boss and Rakhi Ka Insaaf have been the target of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issuing strict orders to Colors and NDTV Imagine to change their show timings. Besides issuing an order to change the timing, the ministry has directed to carry the disclaimer – Not Suitable For Children.
Obscene content is the reason behind this action. The Ministry has issued orders to air these TV shows between 11pm-5am. The content of both reality shows is considered highly unsuitable for young viewers and complaints have been filed against both the shows what else we can take it to be than controversies. Controversies in reality shows go hand in hand, certainly the best way to increase the channel TRP.
While Imagine has surrendered and pushed its show-Raakhi ka Insaaf to 11 PM, Colors on the other hand has successfully got the stay on the orders issued on its famous reality show-Big Boss and it will be aired at its regular prime-time slot i.e. 9 PM.
Coming to the point, we viewers are contributing in increasing the TRPs of reality shows thereby making them successful. We need to examine the role of TV networks in safeguarding the ethical and moral values of society.
The point to brood over is changing the times of Raakhi ka Insaaf or any other reality show that are said to harm the innocence of the children won’t do any good. Do we really need shift in the timing? People who want to watch will continue with it any way. This also gives fuel to the question whether we need an adult hour so called 11 pm to 5am or not? Do we actually need such shows? Even if these are aired; are we forced to watch them? Are we controlling the TV remote or is it the ‘Remote’ that’s controlling us?
