Reading Rooms Opened in Islamabad for Public
The Ministry of Education has taken the credit for a landmark service in promoting the habit of reading among the general public by opening public reading rooms in different sectors of Islamabad. This is the first initiative of its kind in the past several years that will help the layman satiate his intellectual urge without worrying about a peaceful place with good reading materials and a comfortable environment.

The project of providing reading rooms was achieved in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), which provided the physical structure for the rooms. The reading material and staff have been provided by the Department of Libraries. Four reading rooms have been made available, at the start, one each in sectors G-7, G-8, F-11, and I-8. Newspapers and magazines have been supplied at these reading rooms while books will soon be delivered by the Department of Libraries. The rooms will remain open for public use from 10 am to 6 pm daily.
The Director General of the Department Libraries Mr. Mohammad Nazir told news sources that more reading rooms will be opened in Islamabad, starting with sectors G-11 and I-10, in order to promote reading culture in the country. This remarkable initiative by the government is expected to be followed by the provincial governments too so as to provide reading facilities to thousands of people who aspire daily reading but cannot fulfill this passion on account of lack of reading facilities.
