Raise The Alarm: China On the Verge of Having Aircraft Carrier
A fear years back the Pentagon, America's defense department, issued a report meant to raise alarm. It reported that China may actually one day actually have one, maybe, aircraft carrier...in the future. A few years hence the liberal Huffington Post news site and aggregate runs this headline: China On Verge Of Having Aircraft Carrier

This is a histrionic headline with serious consequences. The implication is that the rise of China is not just a challenge to U.S. dominance but also poses a serious and disconcerting military build-up which is also a threat to America's national security. It is to be expected that China, a nation with huge land maritime borders, would always invest in its military once its economy grew. And, it is also quite natural, that a major power would also seek the military to secure its interests in its region. But this need not be a threat to America's own interests.
China and America, due to their strong economic links, have complimentary interests in maintain peace in the pacific. The nations would only see tension if the United States determined to maintain its monopoly military dominance in the pacific without acquiescing and respecting China's growing influence. A Sino-American order must now be re-visioned in the pacific for the purpose of global peace and stability. It is the interest of both nations and the wider pacific rim that China's rise peacefully and that American policy is enlightened enough to accommodate that.
American self-interest and reason will see to it, I believe.
As for the aircraft carrier. So what? China will have one carrier, the United States has 11 and the remaining few others around the world are in the hands of America's allies. So nothing to fret about today or tomorrow. Lose the hysterical "the Chinese are coming" headlines!
Peace is in the cards.
