Quit India - Yellow Journalism: Uma Bharti
Uma Bharti raises voice against Yellow Journalism prevailing in India. She advises BJP, Advani and Narendra Modi on Day-14 of this Protest at New Delhi. Dec-27
"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit." — Albert Schweitzer
Saints are the pillars and advocates of any spiritual movement and we must not allow false allegations to taint the image of the spirituality and its staunch advocates in the wrong light. Over centuries, many have conspired to malign saints and their teachings. On November 10 2009, Sandesh, popular daily in Gujarat published an article along with derogatory cartoon defaming the world renowned Indian saint, Sant Shree Asaramji Bapu. We want to point out that there have been several instances of misreporting and denunciation adjectives used by Sandesh to mislead, inflame and instigate against Asaramji Bapu and his Ashrams.
It is obvious Sandesh published such derogatory articles on Pujya Bapuji to increase its readership and instigate against Hindu saints. The Media should not manipulate the NEWS and should always bring the true picture in front of the public. They should always keep in mind that whatever is written by them has a great impact on the minds of the readers and their credibility is at stake. Media has been given the right to expression by the Constitution of India and they should not misuse the same. Some conspirators for their own benefits misguiding the public and media is becoming the victim in their hands.

Our Religious sentiments have been deeply hurt by the extremely irresponsible reporting of this newspaper. There have been several incidents where Press Council has slammed Sandesh (for publishing 'scurrilous' reports during Godhara communal carnage in Gujarat) and for the infraction of the norms of journalistic conduct in their reports appeared aimed at creating a sensation in the surcharged atmosphere; misleading and inflammatory articles; provocative and instigating language causing divisiveness and hatred among the common people.
The Gujarati newspaper Sandesh, has crossed all limits of responsible journalism and has been at its inflammatory best. The major characteristic of Sandesh, has been to feed prejudices of its Hindu readership and provoke it further by sensationalizing, twisting, mangling and distorting news or what passes for it. We doubt the intentions of such newspapers as their coverage is deeply prejudiced that it threatens to destroy all notions of responsible and balanced reportage. Strict action needs to be taken against such newspapers for flagrantly violating codes of journalistic ethics and to make them accountable to society at large.

Besides, when proof of the newspaper’s wrongdoing and engagement in a conspiracy against Asaramji Bapu exists, why are the authorities doing nothing about it!? Raju Chandaak and the Sandesh owners should be slapped with narco tests, as it seems that they are believed to be innocuously innocent despite a heap of evidence being presence against then, including a frank recorded admission by Raju Chandak. Also the bogus FIR filed by Raju Chandak should be trashed and his misdeeds thoroughly investigated into.

The involvement of the newspaper and its minions in the administration is so apparent, any sane person would be able to see through it. But what we see is the police arresting people protesting in peace opposite the newspapers office in Ahmedabad, police mercilessly beating up peaceful protesters who had gone in the hope of being heard, at Gandhinagar and the very same police who had sworn to protect the rights of the citizens brutally attacking an ashram whose foundations have been based on truth and peace and inhumanly beating up everyone found in the ashram, from octogenarians to 13 year old boys! And their fault- practicing their faith! Where is the famed Human Rights Commission of India when basic human rights are being violated? What does it take to practice one’s faith in this so-called secular country? And why is the media not reporting this in the right light? Why does the media only assert their rights and not their duties! Yellow journalism seems to rule the roost in this country now.
ISO has been holding an indefinite dharna at Jantar Mantar,New Delhi, India to protest against this very journalism that often raises its grimy head to taint our Gods, saints and prophets and also against the administration which lets criminal conspirators like Raju Chandak roam scot free, while slapping baseless cases against these very saints who are striving every moment to raise above all these petty games into realms of peace, truth and serenity.
The agitation of the masses against the injustice meted out on this great Indian saint is palpable in the way the crowd at the dharna has multiplied from a modest 30 people on the first day to hundreds from all over the country and there seem to be no signs of relenting yet, at least not till the demands are met. Not only the common masses, but various saints and leaders of organizations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal etc have been coming and sitting at the dharna to show support for what has now become a war against Sanatana dharma.
The dharna is being held in a very organized manner, we are constantly alert to prevent miscreants from causing any sort of mayhem. The gems or ratnas of India are not some state controlled corporations but these very saints. This is a pseudo war between those who create and those who tear down. The visiting saints have praised the efforts of ISO for organizing this peaceful agitation to assert spiritual rights of the followers of Sanatana Dharma aka Hinduism.
