Pope Benedict XVI’s Condom Problem
Once again, the Pope has jumped into the condom debate. After condemning people to aids for years, the Catholic Church seems to be coming into the 20th century.

I have asked in the past, “What does the Pope know about condom?” It appears that the Pope is beginning to learn new things.
In an interview with a German journalist, Peter Seewald, the Pope said he is open to male prostitutes using condom to stop the spread of HIV. “It can be a first step in the direction of moralization, a first assumption of responsibility, on the way toward recovering an awareness that not everything is allowed and that one cannot do whatever one wants," the Pope said.
The Pope is also willing to allow female prostitutes to hand out condoms to their male customers.
What is going on here?
What does the Pope know that he did not know in 2009 when he condemned the use of condoms on his trip to Africa? Who is teaching the Pope about modern lifestyles? Who is upgrading his knowledge?
It is refreshing to hear that the Pope is taking a second look at the issue. The father of the absolute is becoming flexible. The leader of a billion real people is beginning to deal with the real issues these people face.
The lesson in the Pope’s debacle into sex and condom is that as long as the Pope refuses to acknowledge the consequences of unprotected sex, he is making himself a little less relevant each day.
Let us hope that soon, priests will be allowed to marry and women will be allowed to become priests. Maybe then sexual abuse will end in Catholic church.
Until then… yawn.
