PEE PEE....MAAR MAAR

LIFESTYLE. .

One early morning as I was lazing around, stretching and relaxing on my couch sipping over a cup of hot brewing coffee, I came across an article in the paper that actually sent shivers down my spine. It made me feel yuck and pucky to read – ‘A Paani Puriwala’ being caught peeing in the ‘lotta’ in which usually he would serve his customers his filthy yet most delicious creation.

Rajdev Lakhan Chauhan, who has been serving CHAAT in Bhaskar Colony in Naupada for four years, was picked up by cops after a resident captured the rather disgusting act on camera from a nearby balcony.

Imagine the levels at which people can stoop. What made him do that, I wonder?. Suddenly with every passing hour this topic became the talk of the day. People all around 'Faced the Truth' that indeed Paani Puri on streets is certainly unhealthy. Yes we have heard a zillion trillion times about their filthy hands and the dirty unhygenic places they could be getting water for their PURI’s from, but something like this is totally atrocious and uncalled for. It shows what an irresponsible citizen he is. Something like this definetly does not require intelligence or education, I’m sure he was completely aware of his foul act.

Congrats to the person who dared to bring this out in the open. It’s good to know that today people are no more sleeping but are raising their voices against all kinds of non sense. Citizens have become more alert and aware about the happenings around them and are fighting for their rights and injustice. This vendor was all beaten up by the society people as soon as they learnt of his uncleaned act The video clip produced by the society helped the police to nab the arrest of this most irresponsible and disgusting vendor. On interrogation he admitted performing this silly act and said that he was compelled to do so as there was no urinal around and he had nowhere else to go. He was produced in the lower court and Chauhan was booked under the Bombay Police act for urinating in public places, he was fined a good sum of Rs. 1, 200 and let out with a strict warning.

Without trying to justify the vendors grimy act, I wonder if it would be correct on our part to blame them completely. How about those civic officials who allow illegal road side vendors to do their business. Aren’t the health officials on a regular basis suppose to keep a check on hygienic conditions maintained in an eatery joint and take action against them if found guilty. The Municipal Corporation should try and get vendors under an umbrella body so hygiene levels could be monitored strictly. Government should provide clean public toilets at most of the places, thus making things simpler for the common man. It’s annoying to know that in a country such as ours where technology is advancing rapidly; there are more mobile phones than public toilets. Even we as common educated citizen never try to run hygiene checks before eating from such joints. We are all so hooked onto the taste that we have rubbished out all that was told to us against it.

Well until the civic bodies are strict about the hygiene conditions and till some sense of sanitation prevails onto these vendors the next time you even dare to think of venturing out for a road side CHAAT, make sure you have PAANI AND NOT PEE IN THE PURI.>
