Is PC business graying?
The PC market after enjoying the heyday of 30 years is showing a plateau, (or I would say a downfall) at least HP’s low margin during the Q1 FY10 results suggests so.

And at the same time, the smartphones have contributed to 40% of the company’s (Apple) revenue:

PC market has matured, its life cycle has reached plateau and to survive in the market it would have to ride the next technology wave, that is, smartphone market with iPhone. Thus shifting the focus from manufacturing of PC to the OS.
Apple pioneered the transition in 2008, when Jobs changed his Apple Computers Inc to Apple Inc. and lately HP took the same track by acquiring the Palm.
Google entered into the market with its Android OS while Microsoft is coming up with the Windows Mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7 focusing more on the consumers.
The market is still in its infancy with Google and Apple already laying the foundation of the coming fad of smartphones or the new very personal computers that is peeping at the horizon.
