Passenger Coach Attacked Again, 8 Injured
In yet another incident of road attacks, unidentified armed men opened firing on a HiAce carrying passengers from Kurram Agency to Peshawar. The attack left 8 people wounded.

The attack was made on the passenger coach at about noon today (March 20, 2011) near Kotgi (Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) when armed people, apparently prowling the grounds, opened firing on passenger HiAce, No. PRE 2328, injuring 8 people traveling in the coach. The police was informed immediately, which led to a search operation by police personnel in the area. Ten people were taken into police custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the injured were rushed to Hangu’s civil hospital where their condition is said to be out of danger.
Like the other recent road attack made last week, this too targeted Shia passengers coming from Kurram Agency. Similar attacks have been made in the past also, apparently to trigger sectarian violence. However, the Shia communities in Hangu and surroundings have responded very maturely to the brutal attacks by refraining from reactive attacks on Sunni sect people. Both sects have recently made assuring statements toward each other, expressing the understanding that vicious elements are trying to start another civil war between them by instances of such target killing.
