Good Taliban and bad Taliban!
You don't want to be a non-Muslim in the NWFP (North West Frontier Province) of Pakistan. The Taliban make it well nigh impossible for Muslims and non-Muslims to live in peace. Of course, that's probably their intention. They have no tolerance for infidels: either you convert to Islam, pay a jizya (a religious tax paid for being a non-Muslim/Dhimmi) or you can face death.
Apparently, 2 Sikh business men who refused to convert to Islam were decapitated, and their heads were sent to a gurdwara (Sikh Temple).
Jaspal Singh and Mahan Singh, both businessmen, were kidnapped from Tira Valley, in Khyber agency, and Darra Adamkheil, in Orakzai agency, on January 19 and held for ransom. Sources in the area told TOI on Sunday that they were killed because they were paying `protection' money to a rival faction.However, according to security sources in New Delhi, Jaspal and Mahan were reportedly told to convert to Islam or face death. When they refused, their heads were chopped off and sent to the Bhai Joga Singh gurdwara in Peshawar.
Although Islam claims to have no compulsion in religion, the Taliban have been pressuring the very small number of non-Muslims who live in the NWFP of Pakistan and Afghanistan to convert to Islam, pay jizya or suffer the consequences. During the Taliban's Afghanistan reign of terror, all minorities- Christians, Hindus and Sikhs- were forced to pay jizya, and reminiscent of the Jews in Nazi Germany
They were made to wear a piece of yellow cloth on their breast pocket to identify themselves.
Jews, during the Nazi reign of terror, were forced to wear pieces of cloth in the shape of the Jewish Star Of David, to identify them as Jews. An interesting similarity.
And the way the Taliban dehumanizes people, particularly women and non-Muslims is very similar to what the Nazis did. Both the Taliban and the Nazis were/are cut from the same cloth. Inhumane and inhuman. Let's hope the Taliban die out like the Nazis did.
