Pakistani judicial commission refused to hear the plea of Zakir Majeed’s family
Karachi: A so called judicial commission constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan have recorded the statements of the relatives of forced-disappeared persons. The commission, however, refused to enrol the statement of Zakir Majeed Baloch’s relatives making an excuse that his name was not on the list of disappeared people.

The Judicial commission has established a three-day public consultation summit where 11 members of Baluch forced-disappeared persons were suppose to register their complains but due the fatal accident near Kalat, in which the mother of Mir Wadood Raisani had passed away, only three family members appeared before the commission. From the three families Zakir Majeed’s family complain has been turned down and the families of Saleem Shahzad and a Karachi based trader have been asked to appear before the Commission on Sunday (today).

Central Senior Vice Chairman of Baloch Students Organization (Azad) Sanghat Zakir Majeed was abducted by Pakistan’s notorious Intelligence agencies on June 8, 2009 from Paranabad area of Mastung. Zakir Majeed and his friends were stopped by plain-clothed men near a busy marketplace at around noon. The men, who had drove two cars without number plates, asked a few questions and said that they were intelligence agents working for the Pakistan army. They took Majeed away and let his friend go with a bruised face. According to eye-witnesses of the incident one of the cars was a Toyota Vego, the other was a Toyota Surf SSR.
It must be noted that earlier the Crisis Management Cell of Pakistan had issue a statement alleging that Zakir Majeed had arrived his home in Mastung. The family of Baluch student not only rejected the statement of Crisis Management Cell but also strongly condemn the cell for releasing such bogus statement. On the other hand Majeed’s family has set up a token hunger strike protest camp in front of Karachi press club, their protest have entered it ninth day. But the Pakistani judiciary, the so called elected parliament (including Balochistan government) and the media seems to have taken no notice of the protest.

Main while sister of Zakir Majeed Baloch has alleged that her brother was suffering severe torture in Pakistani Intelligence’s secret prisons and that his life was in grave danger. She appealed to the UN, EU, International Human Rights Organisations and International media to take notice of complex situations of Balochistan and the issue of thousands of disappeared Baloch, including Zakir Majeed. She asked the International Community, and International Human Rights Organisations to use their influence to pressurise Pakistan for the safe and early release Baloch forced-disappeared activists, including her brother.
