Pakistan’s Peripatetic President (PPP) on a bird’s eye view Tour of Kabul
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to tour Kabul soon for a day to talk to his counterpart President Hamid Karzai and to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment in the so-called ‘war on terror’ which some analysts put as ‘war for terror’.

‘On his first trip to Kabul since his election to the office of President of Pakistan in September, Mr. Zardari (widower of Benazir Bhutto) wishes to strengthen the brotherly ties between the two nations’ the Pakistani foreign ministry announced. ‘The global war on terror’ as put by the two governments had created an atmosphere of distrust between the two neighboring countries.
Afghanistan had earlier repeatedly accused Pakistan of harboring terrorists and housing them in the rugged mountainous terrain of its tribal areas. However, Pakistan had always denied such allegations. And the two governments had agreed to establish a ‘Peace Committee’ known in the local language as ‘Amn Jirga’. However, such Jirgas brought no positive result as had been expected.
Mr. Zardari is also expected to raise the issue of recurrent attacks by US drones inside Pakistan in a bit to hunt down top Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants who NATO and ISAF forces believe are the main elements causing security disturbances in Afghanistan. However, Pakistan has maintained the attacks as breach of international laws and an attack on its sovereignty.
This visit will bring nothing but simply can be considered as Mr. Zardari’s love for traveling abroad. He has been in the president’s office for only four months now and he has spent well over one month abroad on tours. Mr. Zardari will always be remembered as a Peripatetic President of Pakistan’s history.
