Operation Duryodhana: Corruption bleeding Indian Parliament pale

The aptly named Operation Duryodhan sting operation has rendered those revered Members of Parliament virtually naked. Aptly named, because Duryodhana, the legendry character of the great Indian epic, the Mahabharata, had also stripped naked Draupadi, one of his female kin in the epic.

Sitting in the highest decision-making office of the country and accepting graft for exercising their one of the most sacred rights of questioning the government for issues directly affecting the people constitutes an unpardonable crime. It's past that fun stage of befooling some supposedly wise MPs, who fail to make out that some youngsters from a TV news channel had actually taken them for a ride in the name of acquainting them with the latest technologies popular abroad. It's in fact shocking to know the extent to which the parliamentarians can stoop for the sake of a few bucks.

One can only feel the hot blood gushing through the veins on realizing that it's only he and his likes, who are to blame for this sorry state of affairs: had he exercised voting rights in a more judicious manner, these idiots won't be occupying our Parliament and other law-making bodies of the Indian democracy.

What started with the well-known sting operation conducted by Tehelka.com a few years back continues at regular intervals, but there's no stopping our shameless legislators. It's sad to see that corruption has delved so deep into our system of governance that it's becoming rule rather than an exception.

How long can we afford to be fence-sitters and watching things from distance? The poser stares into faces of us all.
