Offending the Catholic Church With Gelato
Man those damn Muslims are so sensitive!
Here's something that the Islamophoboes will not notice: an ad is banned in the UK because it is seen as offending Catholic sensibilities. Anti-Islam bigots always like to say that only Muslims are uber-sensitive to dubious depictions of their faith. But the American Christian Right is living proof of the fallacious fact of such a statement. When John Lennon said the Beatles are "bigger than Jesus", American Christians had bonfires of Beatles albums in protest. Lennon's assassin, a Christian fundamentalist, cited such a statement as one of the reasons he killed Lennon because he offended his faith. Islamophobes cite a South Park episode as "proof" to an extreme deference to Muslim sensibilities, but plays in America have been cancelled after coming under threats by Christian fanatics.

And Jews in France threatened to firebomb theaters which screened "The Passion of the Christ". And there are many others examples from the so-called 'Judeao-Christian' culture. American Christians have even had the nerve to protest in the past over a nonexistent 'War on Christmas'. At least Muslims (rightly) protest over racist images depicting their Prophet, the Christian Right protest whether we call a tree a "holiday" or "christmas". There's cause for you!
Anyway, we now have the news that Britain's ad regulation authority has banned an ad it deems offensive to Catholics because an Italian gelato company featured a pregnant nun (nuns swore to live chaste):
But this company has a history of ads poking fun at the Vatican's strict opposition to sex and homosexuality:

The ads are creative and memorable, but I understand if Catholics are offended. But damn that gelato looks so good!
Does anyone know if a specialty store sells this brand?
