In these tiring economic times there is one industry enjoying booming sales: America's all-good family time gun shops.
American gun owners all around the country made a run for the gun shops after Obama's election out of fear that the most liberal member of the Senate would move to limit gun sales once he is in power. Obama's Vice-President will be Joe Biden, himself also a strong opponent of the Second Amendment "right to bear arms".
"The day after the election, I had many more calls than usual from people looking for semi-automatic rifles," David Greenberg, the owner of the Second Amendment Family Gun Shop, in Bisbee, Arizona, told Reuters. He sold out of AR-15 rifles in recent days.
"There seems to be a fear they will be banned, and it's fairly likely. Obama and Biden are driven to eliminate firearms from the face of the country," he went on to add.
The owner of a Houston gun shop, Jim Pruett, say sales increase to $25,000 in the Saturday before the election. "It's always been the liberal or Democratic agenda to restrict gun ownership," said Jim Pruett.
"Most of the people there were cussing Obama and saying we need home defense," Steve Sechler, the owner of a Kansas gun shop, reported customers saying. He recorded a 50% increase in sales as customers rushed in to stock even Kalashnikov and AR-15 rifles.
Obama has been since his days in the Illinois State Senate strongly in favor of limits on the right to own guns. He favored a 500% federal tax increase on guns and ammunition while in the State Senate. It is unlikely that Obama favors such a measure now (or at least willingly to publicly advocate it), but he has not abandoned anti-Constitutional measures to gun ownership. Obama supported the Capital's zero-tolerance prohibition on gun ownership, something the Supreme Court recently struck down. Though if Obama makes liberal Supreme Court decisions, the Capital's extreme law might become that again: law.
