Nuevo Leon breaks own State Record.....for Murder and Mayhem
A new monthly record of voluntary manslaughter occurred in Nuevo León in April to join a total of 117 deaths, the highest amount in state history.

The number of people killed increased as a result of the presence of drug trafficking in the state, and also because of the Federal government's military led "war against organized crime".
Just in March of this year the state had reached the historical record of 73 intentional homicides, but in April the death toll continued to rise.
According to statistics available from the Attorney General's office, covering from 2004 to date, Nuevo Leon had never before reached such a high number malicious deaths.
These statistics included not only the murders committed by ordinary criminals, but executions linked to organized crime, and the dead in clashes between gunmen and the military.
From 2007 and 2009, according to official statistics, there was a monthly average of 23 premeditated murder and voluntary manslaughter deaths.
But between January and April of this year, a record 226 intentional homicides have been reported, which reached the average was 57 deaths per month .
Moreover, the number of deaths recorded in the first four months of the year is 85 percent of the 267 deaths recorded in 2009.
On April 21 it was reported that at that time there were 117 deaths linked to organized crime, which broke the record of 106 deaths linked to organized crime in 2007.
Apart from murder, Nuevo Leon has seen an incredible spike in auto thefts and carjackings.

While the total amount of auto thefts decreased from 1103 in March to 1080 in April, car-jackings have continued to rise, reaching an unprecedented 279 violent attacks in April.
In the first four months of the year, Nuevo Leon registered 937
'violent auto thefts', while statistics report 1037 for the entire year in 2009.
