Nothing Left – a post mortem report

POLITICS. .

Do you think that anybody can be a communist by born or communism can be inculcated within oneself through practices? The second idea is more acceptable and rational. Yes, nobody can be a born communist, his or her attitude, activities; day to day life style makes him such.

Let us discuss something about this doctrine before going to the morale of this piece.

The definition says “Communism is a sociopolitical movement that aims for a classless and stateless society structured upon common ownership of the means of production, free access to articles of consumption, and the end of wage labor and private property in the means of production and real estate.”

In Marxist theory, communism is a specific stage of historical development that inevitably emerges from the development of the productive forces that leads to a superabundance of material wealth, allowing for distribution based on need and social relations based on freely-associated individuals. The exact definition of communism varies, and it is often mistakenly, in general political discourse, used interchangeably with socialism; however, Marxist theory contends that socialism is just a transitional stage on the road to communism.

Leninists revised this theory by introducing the notion of a vanguard party to lead the proletarian revolution and to hold all political power after the revolution, 'in the name of the workers' and supposedly with worker participation, in a transitional stage between capitalism and socialism.

13th May’2011, is no doubt a black day for communist regime in West Bengal vis-à-vis India. After 34 years of uninterrupted rule the communists were routed from the state by a de-glamorous relentless fighter, a small stature simple lady.

Interestingly Bengal is always a traditionally leftist state. People of this state proudly say that they are fond of communism.

It is true, and had been proved to be correct in the last 34 years, then what happened on 13th May’11 when the ruling communist government was kicked out by the people of the state with their mandate.

Really Bengal voted against the culture? Not likely. Bengal once more voted for communism, but for the real one not the pseudo.

The people unconditionally supported a lady who really preached and practiced the so called communism for last twenty seven years. Sometimes the executions were incorrect but her intentions were really honest indeed.

She relentlessly fought for the farmers, opposed the wrong capitalist intervention and ruthless exploitation on laborers, vehemently vocal for the oppressed and deprived. She became the mouthpiece of protest, and a real messiah of the deprived masses.

Her lifestyle is simple. She is accessible to the mass. If there is a list has been made on honest Indian politicians she will undoubtedly come in the first bracket. She went each and every part of the state to meet the common masses, listen their problems, and at least tried to give a caring hand on their shoulders, and fought for their cause selflessly.

It is straight and undisputed, the would be Chief Minister of Bengal, Ms. Mamata Banerjee is alike a real communist. She won the most crucial election of this era because of that. Bengal voted once more for a communist.

What happened in the opposite camp? Barring a few, most of the pro-claimed, self certified communist leaders both from the state and centre never came out from their “Air Conditioned” chambers and cars to meet with the people and listen their problems.

Arrogance, braggart exterior, anti people policies, derogatory statements, ridiculing and under estimating opponents and above all dogmatic over confidence alienated them completely from the mass.

The result was anticipated by everybody without them.

Yes, nothing is left now. A radical change in character is badly needed; otherwise the future of the Indian communist parties will be more obscure.
