The world’s No. 1 mobile phone maker Nokia Corp. says second-quarter profit fell 61 percent due to a one-time gain in the same period last year.
Finland-based Nokia’s profit was $1.75 billion, or 46 cents per share, down from $4.49 billion, or $1.14 per share, a year earlier.
Sales rose 4 percent to $20.87 billion.
Analysts expected earnings of 56 cents per share on $20.05 billion in revenue.
The 2007 result included a $2.98 billion gain from the formation of Nokia Siemens Networks.
Excluding items, Nokia’s profit rose 8 percent to $2.18 billion.
