No Freedom Of Religion In Saudi Arabia- Filipinos Arrested For Proselytizing
I just love the hypocrisy within the Muslim world. The West allows people to freely worship wherever they happen to live, and regardless of their religious affiliation, they can build their mosques, and temples or whatever it is they need to congregate for prayer without the fear of being arrested or prohibited from practicing their faith. Not so in places like Saudi Arabia where no other religion is allowed other than Islam, at least publicly. Some are allowed to get together, unofficially, as long as it is in private and in expat compounds, but even then there is no guarantee you won't get arrested anyway, which is exactly what happened to twelve Filipino men in Riyadh. The Catholic priest officiating the mass was also arrested, though there is no indication what his nationality is.

The mass, which was conducted in secret in a rest house with 150 followers in attendance, was raided by Saudi police, and twelve of them were charged with proselytizing. First of all, worshipping is not proselytizing. If all the people in attendance were Filipino and Catholic, who the hell were they trying to convert? And if Muslims are allowed to proselytize, which they do without repercussions in the West, why shouldn't Christians be allowed to do the same thing in Saudi Arabia. The double standards are shameful.
It's outrageous that these Catholics, who were quite obviously not proselytizing, were arrested for doing what they have every right to do: worship as they please.
Activists from the Filipino community claim the Filipino men were released, but no-one had word about the priest.
