A Nigerian military spokesman says gunmen have kidnapped two more foreign workers in the country’s southern oil region.

Lt. Col. Sagir Musa of the military unit charged with calming the restive Niger Delta said Sunday that the two expatriates were seized overnight from a bar in the town of Onne. He had no information on the hostages’ employers or nationalities.

Over 200 foreigners have been kidnapped in two years of stepped up violence across Nigeria’s southern oil region. Hostages are generally released unharmed after a ransom is paid, although several have died in botched snatches or rescue attempts.
