Muslim hardliners Al Shabaab kill young Christian convert in Somalia

According to sources, 23 year-old Mumin Abdikarim Yusuf , had been beaten and tortured before he was killed.

Shot in the head, because he had converted from Islam to Christianity and had the misfortune to share his faith with a 15 year-old Muslim youth who then ratted on him to Al Shabaab, the extremist animals who run a great portion of Somalia with a religious iron fist. I've written about their excesses recently, and the stories keep coming.

In conservative, fundamentalist Islam the punishment for apostasy is death. I assume the same goes for proselytizing. It is thought that Yusuf was tortured as a means of gathering information about other underground Christians since they cannot worship openly.

It is not known whether under torture Yusuf revealed information

about area members of the hidden church, but underground church leaders have been relocating local Christians who knew him, the source said. “We still don’t know if the Shabaab did find any new evidence from Yusuf,” he said.

Christians are so fearful in Somalia since the rise in power of al Shabaab, that even Yusuf's own Muslim family had no clue that he had converted, or at least that's what they claim. Even so, they were forced to appear in a Shariah court for not telling al Shabaab about their son's conversion. No-one knows for sure whether they complied or not, but it is assumed they did since it is very common to have your head chopped off for defying orders.

So, even though they raided his home and found no incriminating evidence, and there was only one witness (the 15 year-old boy) and you need 3 witnesses in Islam to execute a person, they mercilessly shot Yusuf in the head and dumped his body on a public street, as a warning to others.

Killed, like a common criminal, for being a Christian.
