Mugabe: Coalition 'Foolish & Stupid'
The government of national unity was supposed to be part of a transition to establish democratic governance in the country, but Mugabe has ensured that it has been long, hard and full of problems in an attempt to hang on to power, and rule the country the way he has for the last thirty-plus years.
Mugabe would like nothing more than elections as soon as possible. The moment he calls the election date, the full force of the various pro-Mugabe and ZANU PF wings will go into action. The army, the police, the air force, the prison service, war veterans and youth militia will go on an all-out mission to subvert free and fair elections, the ultimate goal being returning ZANU PF to government, without the presence of the MDC.
But at least we now know what Mugabe is aiming at. He has had very little to say of late about anything and seems hell bent on fulfilling his own goals and 'to hell' with everything and everybody else.

"Zimbabwe's coalition government should not survive beyond its two-year lifespan that lapses next February, President Robert Mugabe said on Thursday, virtually sounding the death knell for the troubled coalition.
Mugabe said the power-sharing administration must end because some of the things happening in the government were 'absolutely foolish and stupid', a thinly veiled attack on Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai who has refused to recognise senior public officials the President unilaterally appointed in violation of the two rivals' power sharing agreement known as the global political agreement (GPA)."
Perhaps the strangest part of this, is that Mugabe has indicated his unhappiness with the MDC who are responding to their unhappiness with Mugabe and his unilateral and unconstitutional rule.
Mugabe wants the coalition to die a natural death early next year, which would mean that a general election would need to be called, and that is what he wants. He has the various wings of his violent ZANU PF already working towards a 'landslide' victory for Mugabe - and then I believe that they will start working seriously on dismantling the MDC from the inside.
"The life of this creature called the GPA is only two years and it started in February last year. So, February this year it was one year down.
"February next year, which is about four months to go, then it will have lived its full life and I do not know what is going to happen if we are not ready with a constitution."
Mugabe is apparently intended to sweep the board in a general election and then the need for a new constitution will fall away.
It should be noted that the 'foolish and stupid' things happening within the coalition have largely been done by him and his fractious party.
And Mugabe has overlooked the fact that ZANU PF is responsible for the majority of problems within government, and I do note his failure to even acknowledge that he and his party failed miserably to abide by the 30-day deadline given the coalition by SADC to reach agreement. In fact, his party did absolutely nothing to meet the deadline.
Mugabe marches to his own drumbeat. He cares not for the population in Zimbabwe, but wants to continue to rule them with a clenched fist.
In that case, the advent of the coalition will have been for nothing.
'Foolish and stupid'? Speak For Yourself, Mr Mugabe...
