Movie on Kashmir

POLITICS. .

Dear Fellow Kashmiri's,

I keep thinking that if I get enough money some day, I will make a film on Kashmir. I know I will never get that much money and even if I will, I wouldn’t dare to spend it, keeping the recession and inflation in mind. However I would like to write the story of my film (very briefly); the fundamental objective is to reach to every Kashmiri.

The film starts by showing a mass demonstration for Independence by Kashmiri's against the Indian government. Young students want to either be part of Pakistan or want an independent Kashmir. An Indian army officer (Paresh Rawal), gets hold of one man, and says, OK, I will give you independence, I will show you Pakistan, the place where you people want to go. The young boy is send to Pakistan. The story is based on his experiences in Pakistan, which makes him swear to God that he will never again ask for Pakistan or independent kashmir. His experiences were as follows:

1) Terrible reputation of Pakistan in international community, where every Pakistani is treated as a Taliban or a member of militia. He tries to convince people that he is not a terrorist, but in vain.

2) Bulldozing naive Kashmiris by strong Punjabi community and radical discrimination by Pakistanis. He feels neglected; his sweet dream of being with Pakistan, turns out to be a nightmare.

3) Implementation of Taliban rule, where he is not free to do anything he wants. He is instead handed a gun to fight the Americans, which is against his wishes.

4) Frequent attacks by terrorists, where he looses his close friends, families.

5) No education for girls, no watching movies, listening to songs. If something like this happens, people will be flogged or beheaded. He does not like this, but is oppressed.

6) No justice system. No appeals in courts. On spot verdict. Could be stoned till death, or killed by gunmen in front of public. He doesn’t know how to demonstrate against this cruelty. This was not India, where demonstrations were allowed. He could have been beheaded in Pakistan.

7) Living in a country of extreme poverty, where international companies are not willing to invest. No jobs, nothing. The nation had just one aim, fight, fight and fight.

8) Sectarian violence. Shia vs Sunni, killing each other. He is devastated.

9) Getting caught in international prisons, like Guantanamo bay, while Indian counterparts (muslins) getting released by just having a look at their nationality.

He truly thinks why did I ever want to be part of Pakistan. He thinks it smarter to be with India, which is

1) An economic superpower

2) Has more muslims than Pakistan

3) Stable, and Secular.

I wish I had the money to make such a movie. However I support that Kashmir should be given greater autonomy, but Indian troops should be stationed on the international borders. I would also recommend to while doing so (giving full autonomy), India should cut its trade links with Kashmir, and ask Kashmir to prove that if it could survive without India.
