Pumwani maternity hospital is one of the busiest hospitals here in Nairobi but this is where the devil has pitched camp.
The hospital is known for all kind of weird and evil things anyone can imagine of, this is where new unsuspecting mothers lose their babies to strangers while others' babies are swapped and you are never sure if you will end up with the baby that you gave birth to.
The latest incident is a shocking one, a baby born at the hospital has sustained major facial and body injuries.
And as the whole saga turns into a blame game, the baby can neither breath through the nose nor sallow food after the operation that has left her paralysed.
The hospital is now pointing an accusing finger to the parents and is saying that the baby had small bruises and the rest might have been caused by her mother, an officer who spoke on behalf of the hospital goes on to suggest that the injuries might have been caused by burns, which is doubtful.
According to the family, initially the hospital had informed the couple that their child was dead after conducting an examination in which they established that the baby lay in an unusual position in the womb which prompted a cesarean birth where the baby sustained minor bruises on the face during the process.
There have been several allegations of babies being stolen and mothers being duped that their babies died during birth at the hospital.
Another incident that shocked many was a time when a woman was given the wrong baby which was infected with HIV. Mothers and their babies for instance, have died during birth, yet their bodies could not be traced. Pumwani is one of the largest and cheapest maternity hospitals countrywide, 100 babies are delivered at the hospital daily.
