Moroccan authorities expelled 16 foreigners for proselytizing
The Moroccan interior ministry expelled 16 foreigners for committing acts that run counter to law in force. The ministry said that they exploited some families’ poverty and targeted their minor children of whom they looked after and under the cover of an orphan called Village of Hope in the province of Ifran, they carried out proselytizing activities aimed at under the age of 10. They added that the investigation resulted in the seizure of a lot of materials used in proselytizing. The government authorities shut down the orphan and its expatriates were given 3 days to leave the country. This incident has caused an outcry among politicians and national media in Holland. Many Dutch parties denounced the Moroccan authorities’ attitude and threatened to push the European Union to reconsider its special relationship with Morocco. According to the Dutch political leaders, the expelled Dutch citizens were asked to leave within three days without a chance to defend themselves or to give their own version of the story.
