Morgan Hamm is joining his brother on the sidelines for the Beijing Olympics.
The American gymnast withdrew from the U.S. men’s team Thursday because of an ankle injury. He appeared to crunch his left ankle during training on floor Wednesday, grimacing and quickly walking off the podium. He continued to train but only did a few simple moves before climbing off the podium.
Morgan’s twin brother, Paul, the reigning Olympic champion, withdrew July 28, two days before the Americans left for the Olympics, because he couldn’t recover in time from a broken hand and shoulder injury.
Morgan Hamm’s withdrawal leaves the Americans with no gymnasts with Olympic experience.
